Stackpole Quay Cottages

These cottages at Stackpole Quay in Pembrokeshire were formed from a derelict farm on the former Cawdor estate which was gifted to the National Trust. This development was undertaken to provide the Trust with an income to care for the estate. In line with the National Trust's charitable aims the project was undertaken using only labour available under a government job creation scheme. Only the electrical work was undertaken by a professional contractor. Thus the twin aims of achieving an income for the estate and creating worthwhile jobs for over a dozen unemployed people was achived. The cottages at Stackpole Quay are amongst the most popular in Wales.
